BIOGRAPHY Natty needs no introduction, having recently been made an Ambassador of the Prince's Trust for his Defcon Workshops outreach project for young people, his profile is rapidly increasing and he's using it to do great and charitable things, committing to charities such as Music 4 Children and Task Brasil. And he doesn't lack any kind of skill when it comes to music… Starting his career in the wilds of Kent at the tender age of 11, looping samples on a tape deck to make instrumentals to rap over, Natty has since carved his way through the music scene, leaving a trail of musical genius behind him. He has proved to be a force in the industry and has much more to give. In 2005 Natty toured with Extreme TV where he hosted their new series “Streetball Extreme – The Battle for Europe”, aired on the Extreme TV Channel in August 2006 which saw him visit Paris, Lyon, Berlin, Barcelona and Krakow… to name but a few!! The show hit 57 countries around the world and was a smash success! As well as hosting the series, Natty also compiled the soundtrack which included many of his own tracks, he also provided music for Channel 4’s Gumball Rally alongside Ilan Eshkeri who provided the music for the film “Layer Cake”. Recently Natty was play-listed on MTV Base with his video 'Chill' taken from the awesome 'About Time' released in 2006, click Here to check out the album on the store and hear samples. Natty’s performed with Braund Reynolds (Virgin EMI) as part of the Braund Reynolds Collective hitting clubs such as the legendary Fabric and the amazing Koko of Camden. Alongside all of this, Natty continues to run label Defcon Reords, which he set up at the age of 22 with business partner and friend, Dwella, collaborating with and signing artists such as Dark Circle, Mr Thing (extended players) , Manage (speakers corner) and First Rate (scratch perverts) – who are all considered to be pioneers in their respective genres. As well as this he also writes for Big Smoke Magazine as a guest writer and works on music workshop schemes for kids across the country, when possible. Natty also fronted live hip-hop alternative band Sweettoof – which won Radio 1’s first Unsigned Act of the Year in 2003… he has hosted DJ gigs with the likes of Shortee Blitz, Firin’ Squad, Mr Thing, Matt Jam Lamont, Norman Jay… In fact - Natty has performed at almost every venue and event imaginable – from Glastonbury to the The Jazz Café - from London to Moscow! He now fronts up and coming trip hop, hip hop, dub, reggae band Kaya who are ones to watch for the very near future – they have already supported the Sugababes and Ne-yo at Berlin Fashion Week and are set for big things!! Natty is putting the finishing touches to his second studio album “The 33 Faces” which will be released next year, as well as frontman for band 'KAYA', already tipped to be one of the biggest live bands for next year. A busy man, he is also nearing the launch time of his new HipHop project Time Banditz alongside his long time mate and music associate EZ PZ On top of all of this Natty is also an established DJ – having got himself a job cleaning horse Sh*t – literally – at the age of 15 to buy himself his first set of decks – mixing up RnB, Hip Hop and Drum and Bass at clubs such as Bagleys, Limelight, SE8 Club... the list goes on…This led onto a stint on pirate radio Station Shocking FM playing out drum n bass and jungle. One thing very important to Natty is paving the way for the next generation – he can often be found of an afternoon on the back of a truck with a portable studio going round teaching local kids how to MC, sing, write and record… this has now got support from some of London’s Borough Councils to develop it as a workshop scheme. So while he makes the future brighter for those growing up around him – you can rest assured that the future is also bright for Natty himself. The evidence speaks for itself.
